In April 2020, the Saint Laurent fashion house announced that it intends to adhere to its own show schedule, at least until the end of this year. The luxury brand Kering chose September to showcase its menswear collection for Spring / Summer 2021. The digital Paris Fashion Week, which took place in July, became an alternative to the June Paris Fashion Week Men’s, canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Saint Laurent missed.
On their Instagram account, the label is posting images and videos announcing the Wednesday 9 September event, which will take place in the middle of the day as a digital performance and will be streamed online. In the meantime, Saint Laurent sets us up for the upcoming event with a thick cloud – first in “rose shocking” color, then “electric blue” – flying over the open spaces bordered by the Nordic landscape.
“We are launching a new men’s collection in a digital format. There will be no fashion show, ”the fashion house’s official representative confirmed to FashionNetwork.com.
Anthony Vaccarello, who became the creative director of Saint Laurent in 2016, has always preferred to present men’s collections in an unusual way, performing with them, now in New York, now in Malibu, or offering them as a second act (after the women’s wardrobe) at the shows in Paris. The last to date premiere from the fashion house was the fall-winter 2020 pre-collection.
“But nothing has been decided with the women’s collection for the coming spring-summer season. One thing is certain – as we have already reported, we will not defile with her during Paris Women’s Fashion Week, ”the company notes.
When the quarantine took place, Saint Laurent announced that “it will not present its collections as part of the official schedule of 2020 fashion weeks, but will follow its own schedule, producing launches according to an optimization plan and in accordance with creative imperatives.”
